We are proud to be a market-leading recruitment business. Recruitment is the very core of what we are and we know we do it well. However, having developed so many long-term trusting relationships with many local business owners, senior decision makers and other key contacts within the local business community, we have often been asked for support, advice and help in some other recruitment related areas. As a direct result, we have developed our service provision over the years to enhance the recruitment process, and deliver the types of ancillary workplace related support that our clients need.
Outsourcing as a concept
Outsourcing any non-core service can deliver a range of benefits to companies of all sizes. These often include:
- Cost savings – there are often savings to be made on expensive technology or staffing
- Access to expertise – you can access specialists across a range of areas without having to employ them. Our team ensures that they stay fully up-to-date with industry trends and compliance requirements right across the employment industry
- Time saving – we can take some labour-intensive repetitive tasks off your hands, allowing you to focus on your own business function and growth
- Focus on core competencies – you can allocate your human and financial resources more strategically to drive growth and facilitate innovation
- Saving headcount – as well as the cost of staff, many companies have restrictions on their number of full-time employees. Outsourcing non-core services bypasses this issue meaning that your team can concentrate on core business related functions.
Payroll, Onboarding, Pensions (POP) services
Here are three of the services we deliver that complement our recruitment activities.
Payroll
While we offer a payroll service for companies of all sizes, it is particularly popular with smaller businesses and even start-ups where economies of scale don’t yet allow for an ‘all bells and whistles’ internal HR department. Our services at a glance:
- Payments based on the client’s required frequency
- Automated Social Security and Tax contributions
- Payslips emailed to all employees
- Compliance with all local requirements.
Onboarding
Employee onboarding is the process of welcoming and integrating newly recruited employees into your company and providing them with the appropriate information, tools and resources. It usually involves familiarising them with the company culture, policies and procedures as well as their specific job role and what it entails. A well structured process will help ensure each new employee has a smooth transition into your company.
We offer onboarding services to companies of all sizes and for all staff: full-time, part-time, temps or contractors. Our services at a glance:
- Managing all contract related documentation ensuring compliance with any local legislative requirements
- Completing full due diligence and screening checks
- Validating all references
- Advising on the design and execution of induction programme for new employees.
Pensions
The deadline for the introduction of the secondary pensions is looming – for many employers depending on their size, that date is 1 July 2024, followed by a phased approach for all other smaller local employers. Many employers will already have a suitable scheme in place and if they choose to make membership of their scheme compulsory and part of their employment contract. However, compulsory schemes won’t necessarily be appropriate for all employers for example where there is a transient workforce or a large number of contractors.
The Guernsey government has established a default secondary pension scheme, “Your Island Pension” (YIP) to assist any employers who do not have another alternative approbated scheme and we are now able to offer pension administration services to companies’ temporary staff and contractors to minimise the administrative and burden on their employer. Our services at a glance:
- Registration of employees onto the YIP scheme
- Management of all notices (notices of enrolment or deferred enrolment) and opt-in/out records
- Management of employer and employee contributions
- Maintenance of all pension related employee records
- Production of reports for both employer and employee as required.

At OSA we like to think of ourselves as an extension of a client’s own business, offering guidance across a wide range of workplace related issues. We pride ourselves on our ability to react to the changes in the local employment market and then review our own service provision accordingly. Our POP services are one of the ways we have done just that. Please get in touch if you want to learn more.
